Description
Melon is a sweet, juicy fruit with a fleshy texture, enjoyed year-round thanks to production across both hemispheres. Its seeds are concentrated in the central cavity, and it comes in many varieties grouped into three main types: smooth or winter melon, reticular or summer melon, and Cantaloupe. Each variety differs in shape, skin, and flesh color, from green, yellow, or wrinkled skins to pale green, orange, or reddish-yellow flesh. Popular varieties include Piel de Sapo and Amarillo.
Highly hydrating, melons are rich in potassium, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, iron, zinc, and iodine, making them ideal for refreshment and relaxation. Their natural sweetness and flavor make them perfect for fresh consumption, fruit salads, juices, sorbets, or creams. Melon is also enjoyed as an appetizer, often paired with ham, or as a garnish in savory dishes.
