Antillean Pepper

The Antillean pepper is a very hot variety of chili, known for its intense pungency—among the strongest in the entire Capsicum genus. The fruit varies in color from green when immature to orange or bright red when ripe, and typically measures between 2 and 6 cm in length.

Description

Beyond its culinary appeal, the Antillean pepper is valued for its therapeutic properties. It acts as a natural anti-inflammatory, stimulating blood circulation, promoting sweating, aiding digestion, and offering antiseptic benefits for the skin and mucous membranes.

In Caribbean cuisine, it is a key ingredient used to add bold flavor and heat to sauces, marinades, and meat or fish dishes. Various condiments and hot sauces are prepared from this pepper, giving local dishes their characteristic fiery taste.

Due to its high perishability, Antillean peppers should be kept refrigerated and consumed within a short period after purchase.
