Sweet Garandilla

This tropical fruit is ovoid in shape, starting as a green berry and ripening to an orange-yellow color with small white spots. It measures 6.5–8 cm in length and 5.1–7 cm in diameter. Its smooth shell is inedible, but inside lies a gelatinous, yellowish-white pulp with a very aromatic flavor, containing edible seeds.

Description

Nutritionally, it is highly valuable, providing vitamins A, B, C, E, and K, along with minerals such as calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, selenium, sodium, and zinc.

The best way to enjoy it is fresh, scooping the pulp directly with a spoon. Its pulp is also commonly used in ice creams, sauces, and creams, adding a tropical and aromatic touch.

For storage, keep it at room temperature away from heat sources, and once ripe, store it in the refrigerator to preserve freshness.
