Lulo (Naranjilla)

Belonging to the Solanaceae family, Lulo is a tropical fruit with an appearance reminiscent of a tomato. It is ovoid in shape, measuring 4–6 cm in diameter. Its outer shell is bright orange, while the interior is divided into four compartments separated by membranes, containing a yellowish pulp filled with numerous small seeds.

Description

Nutritionally, Lulo is rich in calcium, vitamin C, phosphorus, and protein, and also provides iron, sodium, and small amounts of fiber and fat. Its high content of vitamin A and phosphorus contributes to the strengthening of bones, nails, and hair.

Lulo can be enjoyed in various ways: fresh with a teaspoon, as juice, or in ice creams. For storage, place the fruit in a perforated plastic bag to allow ventilation, then keep it in the refrigerator to preserve freshness.
